For anyone wishing to plan ahead, please note the school dates for 2020.

Each year the Ministry requires school to be open for a set number of days, and provides a range of start and end dates that we need to work within. As a Community of Schools we are also trying to align our start and end dates so that we can work more collaboratively.

In 2020 schools are required to be open for 192 days (3 days less than in 2019). In prior years where the school has been closed for teacher professional development, these days have been added onto the end of the year to make up for the days. However, the new collective agreement for teachers means that the two days planned for this year are part of the school year. In addition, Easter falls within the school holidays this year, which means that the school year in 2020 finishes earlier than usual (Tuesday 15th December).

At Westmere we usually start the year as late as possible to make the most of the summer weather for families. Aligning with our local schools, and ensuring that we make the most of time at schools has made 3rd February the most practical start date.

Tuesday 28th April - Friday 3rd July

Term 3

Monday 20th July - Friday 25th September

Term 4

Monday 12th October - Tuesday 15th December
