2015 - Te Rehu - School Production
For the first time in many years, as part of our 100 year celebration, the school put on a whole school production. The feedback from the community says it all…
“Congratulations to you and your amazing team of teachers – that show was outstanding!!! We were all completely blown away and super proud to be Westmere parents – the show is worthy of being shown not only to the Westmere School community but also to the wider Westmere/Grey Lynn or even Auckland community – seriously!!!
The amount of work that has clearly gone into it, from costumes (I sewed a few waistcoats but insignificant when I saw the amount of different costumes involved!), to choreographing, narration texts, songs, and simply organising the children – all simply amazing!!! And all that while continuing with the general business of running a school…”
“I've just come home from this mornings' matinee of the school production. I don't want to waste any time in letting you know how amazing I thought it was. I sat with tears in my eye and a lump in my throat watching every single child participate in what must have been a marathon of a production to pull together.
The performances, the projected images, the music, the props, and the costumes were all of a quality I wouldn't have expected with the little time this seemed to be pulled together in. This could only have happened with a huge amount of willing support from our community and that will to support is testament of the great leadership at Westmere school.
You and all the staff at Westmere school are champions at going beyond the call of duty and I think it is that, which inspires so many parents to come on board to help with such outstanding events as this production.
THANK YOU and all of the very hard working teachers, staff and children at Westmere School for this amazing effort. It is the most joyous punctuation to 2015 and I am so proud that my children, have had the great fortune of being Westmere School students.”
“I am certain that by now you will have received many words of appreciation and gratitude for the outstanding production put on by your school. I was lucky enough to have attended today’s matinee performance and it was a delight. The students performed so well and with so much joy. The costumes were stunning and the choreography, sound and lights gave the entire show a professional feel.
Your staff have clearly put so much work and thought into making this a heart-warming yet tightly choreographed piece. I thoroughly enjoyed the concept of a historical journey and the celebration of cultural diversity.”
“I just wanted to formally congratulate you and all your wonderful staff on such a brilliant production. It was a magical experience; so wonderful to see every child participating in some way, shape or form (quite literally)… The night we visited happened to coincide with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the theme of which this year is “Inclusion Matters”. Inclusion really does matter both for those with disabilities and for those that love and care for them. It was truly wonderful to see such an inclusive show. Once again it made us proud to be part of such a special community.”
