Grandparents' Morning
Last Friday, was Book Character Dress-Up Day & Grandparents Morning. Read ahead to find out what happened! By Alisha N and Eleanor P.
Friday was a special day to celebrate books! We invited our Grandparents in for the morning to show them around our studios and share all of our learning. Everyone dressed up as their favourite book characters for the day and we paraded around the school for our grandparents so they could see our awesome costumes! There was a huge selection of characters from our favourite books such as Harry Potter, Pippi Longstocking, Little Red Riding Hood and the Cat in the Hat. Thing 1 and Thing 2 were very popular this year!
During assembly, we were very lucky to have Stacey Morrison read a special book to us, “A Lion in the Meadow | He Raiona i roto i ngā Otaota” by Margaret Mahy and translated by Piripi Walker. She read each page in English and then in Te Reo Māori. Every time Stacey said raiona we had to roar ferociously. Everybody loved the story and Stacey’s expressive reading!
After we had shared special stories with our grandparents, they went down to the hall for a lovely morning tea with brownies, slices, jam scones and other delicious treats made by some of our wonderful parents and caregivers.
