Our Art projects are in full swing! We have been very busy using what we have learnt during our workshops this term to create a piece of art to share with you next Tuesday at our Celebration of Learning.

We looked at a painting called 'Saint George and the dragon' and read the legend of how George saved the princess from the dragon.  The painting is zoomable and the children loved looking at the background and the detail in the painting. From this interest in dragons we read Māori legends with 'Taniwha' in them. The children were really interested to know if they were real. The children started thinking about their own mythical creatures. 

The children have created artwork of their own mythical creature or place.  We looked at different body parts of animals and thought about what type of skin they might have. The children  designed their own creature and had to decide the best art form to use to share it with others.

Help!

Does anyone have an old dial telephone or any old typewriters that we could borrow for Term 4?

I have 3 packs of UNO cards that have all been mixed up. I have tried to sort them out but the children are so keen to play it that they often grab them mid sorting! Would someone be able to either take this job home to do or do it quietly in the glass room one morning? Please see Kylie

Celebration of Learning "Art  Festival"

Next Tuesday we are having our school Art Festival. The whole school will be open for you and your family to go around and see what all the children have been up to this term.  You can spend as long or as little time in each studio and can come and go within the open times ( 6-7:30 doors close).

Dinner at the Celebration of Learning
There will be lots of yummy food for sale under the Supertop so come and have dinner too! Each studio has been allocated food to bring. We ask that you bring a named plate of food and help  sign up on the roster to sell the food at our LS1 table. If you have children in more than one studio you can choose which studio you want to sign up for. Lucy (Myla's mum) is our Table Leader. Thanks Lucy for volunteering!

If your child is on the spelling programme- Spelling books need to be brought to school on Friday so new words can be added.
