Technology Challenge

Phil Walker —

On Wednesday (last week) twelve students went to Faith City school to compete in the west cluster technology challenge. Westmare had two year 8 teams, one year 6 team and a year 5 team.

There were three different challenges over the day. These challenges were tricky but also fun to do and all the teams managed to finish. The first challenge we had was to make a tower out of 20 marshmallows and some dried spaghetti. My team came third. Next we had a bag of materials and a plastic chair to make a marble run as close to 7 seconds as possible. Ours was soo close at 6.9 seconds, but we came in second place. For the final challenge we needed to make a dessert look like a scene using Jelly and other edible items. The blue jelly looked like a beach and was tasty with the ice cream, however we came second again. Overall our team came second. The rest of the Westmere teams enjoyed their day as well and all tried their hardest. Overall it was a fun day with a lot of involved thinking. Logan McBride Room 10
