WHALE TAIL

Debbie Thompson —

From Monday 14th March until the end of April, our whale tail will be on display somewhere inside Coast Plaza. There will also be three baby whale tails from other local schools.

Go exploring with your children and check them out. Most children from our school have contributed to this artwork.

Our design teams of year 1-6 students were keen on the idea of protecting / caring for the ocean.

We have a ring of people drawn around the bottom of the tail, all holding hands and working together to be kaitiaki (guardians) of the sea creatures that cover the whale tail. We have sand and photos of rubbish from Manly beach on the base, and the people are guarding the sea creatures from the rubbish.

We love our students’ caring attitude for the environment and living creatures. A massive thank you to Rechelle McNair from sKids for generously sponsoring our whale tail and making this possible for Whangaparāoa School.
