WALKING SCHOOL BUS HOT CHOCOLATE DAY

Debbie T —

Next Thursday 11th August there will be a free hot chocolate for any child who has used the walking school bus this year.

Come to K1 at morning tea time. A reminder will be in the panui. Well done Winter Walkers for persevering even in the cold and sometimes when it rains!

Jump on a walking school bus!

A walking school bus is a group of children walking to school together, with an adult ‘driver’.

The benefits of a walking school bus:

  • it’s a safe and healthy way to get to school;

  • children learn and practice road safety,

  • you can get to know others in the community,

  • exercise for parent helpers - a great way to start your morning exercise - drop the kids at school and carry on,

  • and cutting down on pollution with less car trips.

It’s great for the kids, great for the community, great for the environment!

Current walking school buses…

  • Arkles Bay

  • Manly Village

  • Polkinghorne Drive

Your child can join in, just fill in the appropriate form on the walking school bus timetable. And we’re always keen to have some more adult helpers! Email Debbie Thompson if you would like to know more dthompson@wgp.school.nz
