Warriors come to School!

WGP School —

“It’s a surprise”..... "I was so excited".....

Ring Ring Ring! It was the end of play. People were telling me to go to the office because they thought it was a hockey thing, so off I ran. I found Mrs Kember there, and lots of other kids.”What’s going on?” I asked Mrs Kember. She said “It’s a surprise”, then we went to the hall. It was the one and only Ken Maumalo, Georgia Hale and Josh Curran!I was so excited.

They told us we were going to the field so we could train with them. It was like a dream! I pinched myself and it wasn’t a dream. What we did on the field was touch drills, tackling drills and passing drills. Then we played a game. Team Ken vs Team Josh. After that we had photos with them and we also got a free rugby ball and stickers, Some lucky people got a Warrior's bag.

I felt super special that day.

On Monday afternoon we were told to go to the office. Then Mrs Kember picked up the phone in the office and said to someone “We’re coming over now.” I was confused, excited and couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen. We were all told to go to the hall. Three Warriors were standing in front of us, Ken Maumalo, Josh Curran and Georgia Hale!

Next we all went over to the field and we still did not know what we were going to do. But there were rugby balls in there huge sports bags. Finally we arrived at the field and I realised okay, we're going to train with the Warriors! Yay!

We did touch then tackle drills, next played a real tackle game. We all got a Warriors rugby ball and some stickers and two lucky people got a Warriors bag. We got their signatures and a picture.

I’m really grateful that I was able to go train with the Warriors.

OMG, oh my gosh! I could not believe my eyes when I walked into the hall! Standing next to the stage were two rugby players from the Vodafone Warriors, Josh Curran and Ken Maumalo. We were so excited and couldn't believe they would come here to work with us on some league skills. There was also a player from the girls team too, Georgia Hale.

First they introduced themselves to the group then they took us to the field to do some drills. We did touch drills, tackle drills and passing. After we did a couple of drills we did a big tackle game Team Ken vs Team Josh…Team Ken won the game but overall everyone was a winner!

Thank you so much Mrs Kember, Josh, Ken also Georgia.
