SCHOOL CONTRIBUTIONS

The Ministry of Education have made it quite clear to schools that education should be free. The reality is we just could not survive and thrive with the money they give us in our operational grant each year. We rely heavily on international students, PFA and the families in our community to allow us to offer the quality teaching and programmes we do for our children.

This money goes toward, learning assistants who support every teacher and learner, reduced class sizes, our movement programme, our gifted and talented programme for over 120 children, our performing arts programme and learning resources which also impact everyone.

We are very lucky to have the supportive community we do. Thank you.

Please keep contributing in any ways you can to allow these great things to keep happening in our school.

CURRICULUM/ CLASS TRIPS

This year we will be sending out a note to parents at the appropriate year level, to get your feedback on how much you value the activities we offer, and whether they should continue. This includes class trips and year group camps.

Every experience like this incurs a cost and we need to see if you value the experience enough to contribute to the costs.

As a school we cannot afford to cover the costs of something like a year 4 camp, so we rely on parents contributing to make this happen. The reality once again is, without your support, experiences like school camps can not occur.

The first activity we are asking for feedback on is the Year 3 to 6 swimming lessons.

CULTURAL OPPORTUNITIES

Students across the school haven been invited to try out kapahaka in block 1, and Hibiscus Tuakana (Pasifika culture) in block 2 on Friday. If your child is keen to have a go and see what it would be like, we invite them to attend. Next week we will be asking that they make a decision to commit or not. There is no cost to be involved.

PERFORMING ARTS OPPORTUNITIES

Take advantage of our Performing Art specialists that are going to offer students tuition during school on Fridays.

We have:

GLORIA - from Music Hub who will do a "have a go" session with a range of instruments on the 21st February 8-9 am, and 2.45 to 3.45 pm

RHYS - From Chunky Monkey who has created some exciting sessions for Y1-2's and drumming for Y3-6

JUDE - Ruby Jude's Art Journaling - for all you budding artists

See the advertisements below for more information and contact details.

School Choir

Sophia Pedersen takes our junior choir on Mondays at 12.30, and our senior choir on Wednesdays at 12.30. Any child who is keen to sing and learn is welcome to attend. There is no cost.

This is the last week that children can come along and try, they will then make a decision to commit or not.
