The outdoor education programme aims to introduce students to, and progressively develop skills in camping, adventure activities and social interaction as well as build their interests and passions for exploring learning beyond our school grounds.

It focuses on personal development through interaction with others and responsible use of the natural environment. Structured outdoor experiences promote aspects of personal development, such as self-esteem, resourcefulness, interdependence, independence, leadership, judgement, cooperation, tolerance and determination. Students are faced with challenges, which provide the opportunity for personal growth and the extension of their horizons.

In Year 3 the students are involved in E.O.T.C experiences while the Year 4 students are at camp. Each day they participate in a range of activities.

In Year 4 the students do a three day/two night camp at Camp Bentzon on Kawau Island.

In Year 5 the students are involved in E.O.T.C experiences while the Year 6 students are at camp.

In Year 6 the students camp under canvas at Shakespear Regional Park.

To compliment our EOTC and Inquiry learning we also run an initiative called A Million Dreams where children can apply to participate in small group learning experiences in the community and beyond- from being a zookeeper, florist, farmer or pilot, to trying out a new hobby like fishing or developing their skills in a sport or the arts by working with experts in these fields

As part of our school programme, the Year 5 and 6 classes take part in Waterwise instruction.

Waterwise is a programme of aquatic awareness through learning self-confidence, water safety and basic yachting skills. The Waterwise Curriculum encourages confidence in and on the water. The benefits of Waterwise are enormous. Children develop water safety skills. They learn about sailing and other water based recreational activities.

This comprehensive course reaches children at a critical age and enables them to develop and apply their knowledge and skills. The practical part of the programme operates at Manly Beach, with the Manly Sailing Club as its base.
