School Sensory Garden

Angela Howse —

It has been a bit quiet this term, but things are progressing behind the scenes. The bespoke circular bench, sponsored by G.J. Gardner Homes Rodney and designed and made by the Hibiscus Community Shed is progressing well and should be in place ready for Term 1 2020. I would once again like to thank G.J Gardner Homes Rodney and The Hibiscus Community Shed for their ongoing support.Another big thank you needs to be extended to Team Brightside for their very generous donation of $200 which they raised during their Market Day. The money has been spent on materials for the sensory garden elements that the Sensory Garden Group have been working on this term. They are close to being completed.I would also like to thank Julia and Tony Fishlock for their kind donation of 6 pavers that will be added to the sensory garden once the planting is complete. Finally, I would like to thank Monika Jasikova for her willingness to donate fabric and her time to help make Sensory Fidget Mazes. They have been a huge success and we have raised a total of $560. The term is winding down and I had hoped that we would have managed to finalise the planting. Unfortunately the organiser from Rotary Orewa has had a medical incident and things have been put on hold for now. I will keep you all informed should things change in the interim.Thank you to the community for your kind words and support over the year as you have watched developments unfolding. Have a wonderful summer!
