For the last two weeks I have had the privilege of joining 41 year 6 students, 10 parents and teachers on grit camp.

For the last two weeks I have had the privilege of joining 41 year 6 students, 10 parents and teachers on grit camp. This is a 5 day camp that is designed to challenge individuals in the context of the outdoors. Our children tramp, orienteer, river walk, abseil, rock climb, cook on fires and gas, do archery and challenges at night.

The children thrived in these activities, and many showed their resilience bouncing back and facing up to the many challenges they had in a day.

The Aongatete Lodge manager shared that our children were great representatives of our school with their fine behaviour and skills. The camp parents, teachers attending and I felt very spoilt to be able to spend five days in the outdoors with our children. We commented frequently about the wonderful children and families we have in our community.  

At every opportunity our children took up the challenge given and shone. TUMEKE !!
