Pipers Netball Team- Great Sportsmanship and Awesome ORCA actions!

WGP School —

This week we were very proud to receive this letter about the Whangaparaoa Primary Pipers Netball Team from Stella Maris School. Well done team.

Thank you Whangaparaoa Primary Pipers Netball Team. I just wanted to make note of some wonderful happenings at Netball this week between Whangaparaoa Primary and Stella Maris.

At Stella Maris school, we have a divergent learner in one of our Year 3-4 team who has been training her little socks off and had finally plucked up the courage to come along to the games on Wednesday night.

The team played at 5pm on Court 1 in the Year 3-4 grade. The coach from our team was moved to tears by the inclusive and kind nature of the students from the Whangaparaoa team. Your students allowed her to participate fully in the game, deliberately stood back to let her pass the ball to team mates and even handed over the ball to her if she dropped it. There was a young lad who also stood out from the team, called Kian, who was exceptional in his kindness towards our student.
I would very much like to nominate this team for any school awards, principals certificates or special mentions at school assemblies as they all displayed wonderful attributes. The coach from the team was so very supportive as well as all the parents.
In today’s competitive world we hear so much of the negative but it is inspirational to see the next generation of young ones understand the true value in sport. This girls family were blown away by the experience, we as a school are so grateful for the way your team embraced the spirit of inclusiveness.
It is clear the parents of these children and their school are teaching them values that this world needs more of.
From the bottom of our hearts we want to say thank you.Yours in Sport,
Karl Hobman.
