The Week of Māori Language is in full swing, giving everyone the opportunity to celebrate te reo Māori, one of our official languages.

‘Morning Jams’ (Māori waiata) are ringing across the school every morning, senior children from L3 and L5 are leading fun activities every day and our inaugural waka race challenge, led by B4, on the field today has the potential to become a tradition!

Our fabulous Jump Jam leaders took us through the latest Jump Jam moves (including Māori waiata) on Tuesday and classrooms have their own te reo Māori learning going on.

Everyone in the school joined half a million others in the national ‘Māori Language Moment’ initiative at 12 noon on Monday. We all had a go at singing Tūtira Mai together from the safety of our bubbles. Even our Year 4 campers joined in from Kawau Island! While not quite going to plan, the intent was a definite win for ‘the moment’!
