Last week Whangaparaoa year 5 and 6's competed in a football tournament.

Kaito and Bronson —

We had two Whangaparaoa teams: A team and B team.

We were very lucky to go along to the football tournament because the original day was Thursday 10th June but the grounds were closed because of the hard hitting rain.  We were hopeful for the tournament, but we had doubt in the back of our minds.  When we got to school with our gear on Tuesday we were ready!!!

When we got there we started warming up.  We started passing the ball around and we started walking to our game. The A team got on the field and kicked off against Stella Maris! In the first half we scored three goals and in the second half they scored two goals so the A team won the first game.

When the B team was heading to their game we passed the ball around when we were walking. When we started the game we started with the ball and we were running with the ball. The opposition took the ball from us and they start running. We chased the ball... Silverdale shoots and score. We start with the ball again we pass we start running. Josh takes the ball and shoots and scores.1-1 it is a tie. Silverdale is running because it is nearly full time, they run past everyone they shoot and score. We lost 2-1 to Silverdale.

That was an example of how awesome our day was. Overall the A team lost 4-1 in the finals against Silverdale A team. The B team had a great day too.

We would like to say thank you to Mr Shearer, Dan and all the parents who took their time to coach us, drive us down and back.  A big thank you to Mauricio for putting the tournament together.
