AIMS Games 2025 🏅

Paul Botica —

Whangārei Intermediate is currently participating in the 2025 AIMS Games

This year, 70 Athletes from WIS are at the 2025 Zespri Aims Games; there are nearly 14,000 students aged 11-13 participating in arguably the biggest sporting tournament in the country.

We have the following teams taking part: Football, 13 students and 3 Adult officials, Rippa Rugby, 10 Students and 2 Adults, Netball, 10 players, 1 referee and 2 adults, Mixed Hockey, 11 students and 2 Adults. Sevens Rugby, 12 players and 2 Adults, and Basketball with 10 players and 2 Adults make up the team.

There are 4 individual students taking part in Gymnastics, Tennis and Cross Country. Most students are staying at Huria Marae for the week.

For many of our tamariki, this is their first experience of a big tournament, and they are playing their hearts out.

Thanks to our parents taking the teams, they have been doing an outstanding job organising, coaching, driving, helping out at the marae, taking the children on excursions to the pools, beach and watching our teams play.

Thanks to Whaea Gemma, who has done the overall organisation for this years expedition, and to camp cook Whaea Christine, who has been up daily at 5 am to feed the hungry tamarki throughout the week. A rather big job.

Finals will be tomorrow and results available at
