Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,
Firstly, I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to one of our admin staff Sophia Stockwell who has recently lost her father. Dean Stockwell will be greatly missed by his family and friends and no doubt his fans. All our thoughts and love to the bereaved family.
We are now halfway through the last school term for 2021. We have so much to do and so little time. As teachers are busy teaching, assessing, and writing reports, our Year 8 students are busy taking in as much as they can to prepare themselves for the next journey to high school. A reminder to please ensure your Year 8 child is enrolled at a high school for next year. Matua Wiremu has been working hard to ensure we know where each Year 8 students will attend next year. If you have any questions about next year's High School Choices please feel free to contact the High School office and they will be glad to assist.
This week we have held our annual Hauora week for all staff here at WIS. Our staff and students have worked so hard this year, we are also trying our hardest to organise a way to celebrate our students who have upheld our kura values, keep an eye out for any pānui in this regard in the coming weeks.
Finally a few reminders for all our whānau:
*Friday 12th of November is a Staff Only day. Students will remain at home while the staff come together to write reports and receive professional development.
*Please ensure your Year 8 child/ren are enrolled at a High School for 2022.
*4 weeks of school remaining. We would love to see all of our students attend school during this time. School is a safe place. Nau mai, hōki mai nga tamariki ma.
Stay safe, stay well, and enjoy the beautiful weather we have.
Tumuaki/Principal of the best school in Whangarei with the coolest students (especially those who are demonstrating our school’s vision: ma te whanaungatanga, ka whai mātauranga te akonga, ka tu rangatira).
