Whangārei Intermediate School Welcomes Back the WIS/KIS Shield

The occasion was nothing short of monumental as the long-awaited return of the WIS/KIS Shield was part of the agenda. This was to be presented by our counterparts from Kamo Intermediate School.
The shield, a symbol of history and fierce competition between the two schools held a special place in the hearts of Whangarei Intermediate. The assembly was a special occasion that celebrated sportsmanship, camaraderie, and indomitable spirit.
As the assembly commenced, The Kamo Intermediate representatives entered the hall, carrying the coveted and new WIS/KIS Shield. The audience sat patiently showing appreciation for the KIS staff and student representatives.
The assembly, however, was not all about the shield's return, it was a celebration of all the amazing tumuaki awards, syndicate activities, important staff messages, and the celebration of “Pasifika” week. As the anticipation grew, the time had finally come for the shield to be handed over to the Whangarei Intermediate School's team captain.
The atmosphere swelled with excitement at the thought of finally having the shield back after the first inter-school challenge, as this competition has been years in hiatus. The students' smiles and cheers as the shield was accepted on stage reflected their determination to uphold the shield's legacy.
The assembly served as a reminder of the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth through athletic endeavours. The presentation of this challenge trophy is now etched in the memories of the students and staff. The event showcased the values of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and resilience that are integral to both schools. As the shield finds its place once again in the WIS trophy cabinet.
