Introducing Te Whānau o Kauika

Liz Seaton —

Kia ora koutou, I'd like to introduce you to nga kaiako o Te Whānau o Kauika and tell you a little about what our students have been doing recently.

Whānau Leader and WISE Hub Kaiako for Term 1 - Liz Seaton (Whaea Liz)

Rm 5 - Grant Smith (Matua Grant)

Rm 6 - Kat Brown (Whaea Kat)

Rm 7 - Margaret-Jane Hayter (Whaea MJ)

Rm 8 - Sarah King (Ms King)

Rm 23 - Katie Wilkinson (Ms Wilkinson)

All classrooms have been very busy taking care of initial assessments that will be used to guide teaching and learning. In addition to them, there have been Waitangi trips, descriptive writing lessons, integration of Google Apps and online safety, WISE Lessons, foci on whakapapa and NZ History, Te Ao Māori and Te Reo Māori - to name just a few.

This week is our annual Swimming Carnival. It is an exciting day full of music, singing, dancing and of course, swimming. We have been preparing for it with regular swimming sessions and chant practices. Last week we popped over to Cafler Park to practise our chant (photo attached). Win or lose, Te Whānau of Kauika plan to have a whole heap of fun. We'd love to see some of you there supporting your tamariki and are always looking for adults to take on the students in the final relay of the day. Wish us luck, we have some tough competition.
