Congratulations to all of the amazing kaiako for the guidance you have given to your students for their Science Fair entries. I completed the judging last week and felt honoured to have been given this opportunity to re-ignite my passion for Science. In the end, there were over 70 entries and the quality of many was outstanding. It is a very difficult task to choose the best of the best. I have made my decisions by following the judging criteria as set out by the CNSF (Central Northland Science Fair).

A number of students who have obviously worked very hard, have not achieved the level that they may have done had they followed the correct format, process, and suggested slide template for the category they had chosen. There were also a few who submitted Social Studies Inquiries instead of Science-Based Projects that needed to include scientific concepts, knowledge, and observations.

There are 4 levels of awards, Merit, Commended, Highly Commended, and Excellence. Students with an Excellence Award (17 students) will be put forward to participate at the CNSF (Central Northland Science Fair). Mr.Kelly will work with students to perfect their presentations. Those with Highly Commended (22 students) will also have the chance to meet with Mr.Kelly and some of them may also have the opportunity to advance.
