Once upon a time, there was a dangerous storm. Nobody could go outside during the storm because of the harsh and bitter wind. Santa Claus appeared from inside the hot air balloon. Santa was heading towards the North Pole, when he encountered a power pole that had a forceful electric current running through it.

The Stolen Stars of Matariki

One day at Te Mata Hapuku there were two children, a grandma and a grandpa. The children's names were Te Rerehua and Sam.

There are nine stars in the Matariki cluster in the sky. However, today there was only seven stars. There were two stars that got stolen and they were stolen by fairies! The fairies are called ‘Patupaiarehe.’ So Sam, Te Rerehua and grandma slowly sneaked up on the Patupaiarehe. They saw that the stars were gracefully dancing in the bright moonlight.

Just then the girl had an idea! She told grandma to stay where she was. She asked the fairies, "Can we help too?"

The fairies giggled and told the children that they were going to hide these stars under the sand so nobody can find them.

Soon the sun came up and Sam said, "Oh look the sun has come out!" Patupaiarehe ran away. They left behind Pohutukawa & Hiwa-i-te-rangi!

Poua and grandma came to the beach. Grandma looked at Poua. He told the children to stand back and he threw the shimmering Pohutukawa and Hiwa-i-te-rangi into the morning sky. When Poua threw both of the shining stars back in the night sky,  the whanau all went back home with the eels and cooked them up for dinner.
