Christchurch Schools' Music Festival

Abby Bills-Strange —

2nd November 2022

On Wednesday night, the Wharenui School senior choir performed at the Christchurch Schools' Music Festival in the Town Hall.

Tina, Josh, Natalie, Mikaiah, Aashcharya, Kylahni, Ruby, Sienna, Palak, Junior and Logan have been practicing for months to prepare for the concert. They did a great job singing as part of the massed choir.

The other schools they performed with were: Amberley School, Ilam School, Kirkwood Intermediate, Knights Stream School – Mingimingi Hautoa, Sacred Heart School, St Albans School, Weedons School, Whītau School, Cobham Intermediate, Haeata Community Campus, Heathcote Valley School, Our Lady of Victories, South Hornby School, Te Ara Maurea Roydvale School and Waitākiri School.

The songs they performed were: God Defend New Zealand, Kia Mau Ki Tō Ūkaipō/Don't Forget Your Roots, Sing the World Around, Sea Song, Mo Li Hua, Images, Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around, Maybe Tomorrow, Tarragon Vinegar, For the Beauty of the Earth, and One Day More.

It was an awesome night and they loved performing. Next year, any Year 5-8 children who love to sing can join the choir and perform in the Town Hall too.
