A Message from Tracey - Week 8
Kia ora, Hello, Talofa, Mālō e lelei, Bula, Hola, Fakaalofa atu, As Salam Alaykom, こんにちは, Hallo, Hoy, હ લ ો, Hē leu, Mauri, न म त, Ola , Chum reap suor, Kumusta, Nihao, Xin chào.
Mālō e lelei team,
It is great to see that the warmer weather is finally here! Just friendly reminder that all students need to wear a sunhat in Term 4. It's time to check that this has been located, washed and ready to go for the new term.
We have had also some students arriving really early in the morning of late and we aren't able to supervise these students due to morning meetings and preparation time. If you are needing to get to work, please enrol in MASH as they are available for before school care from 7.30 am onwards.
Swimming
Every child will have the opportunity to receive 5 free swimming lessons either in Week 9 or 10. These lessons are an excellent opportunity for our students to develop their swimming skills, become safe and confident in the water, and make progress in their swimming journey.
Students need to bring their togs, towel and googles (if they have them) in a separate bag. Below is the timetable for the lessons. Please text or send a message if your child is unable to take part for any reason. If you have any questions or patai, please reach out to your child/ren's classroom teacher.
2024 planning
We are starting to plan for 2024 so it is vital that you get in touch if your child/ren aren't returning to Wharenui in 2024 (excluding our current Year 8 students). Please send an email or leave a message at the office if you have or are shifting into another school zone. Thank you in advance!
Te Wiki o te Reo Māori Week
Te wiki o te Reo Māori aims to inspire New Zealanders to speak the Māori language proudly. Keep an eye out on the Linc-Ed Hero Community feed where our students will be sharing some everyday phrases that you can use and some activities to do!
Staunton Cup
Congratulations to all those students that took part in the annual Staunton Cup competition with Te Kāpehu Riccarton. The weather was absolutely stunning and the students represented Wharenui with mana and manaaki. Thank you to Janet, Anthony, Candice and Mel for supporting the teams that took part, unfortunately Te Kāpehu was successful in gaining all the trophies this year!
Noho ora mai nā (Stay well / take care of yourself),
