Kia ora e te whānau,
Thank you to everyone that participated in Pink Shirt Day, it was fantastic to see the school colourfully supporting this. Pink Shirt Day promotes some key messages that align with our school values - celebrating diversity and promoting kindness to all.
Just a friendly reminder that we have our Curriculum Refresh Staff Only Day happening on Friday 31st of May. School is closed for instruction on this day as staff will be taking part in professional development. Monday 3 June is Kings Birthday so families will get to enjoy a long weekend.
The cool weather is now upon us and a few winter bugs are doing the rounds. It is important that you contact the office or use the Hero app to let us know if your child is going to be absent from school and the reason why.
Stage 2 Playground Design
We are very much looking forward to our Stage 2 Playground design that is going to be underway very soon. This was designed in collaboration with some of our students as part of their deep learning when they were in Year 6. The design was inspired by their camp at Living Springs and the initiatives course that they took part in. We are currently in the process of removing the pyramid.
Lunchtime activities
Each lunchtime we are fortunate to have some exciting activities happening. Students can opt into these groups and it provides them with the opportunity to get active and/or use their creative talents. The Epic Sports Team along with the UC Sports students come in and run lunchtime games. We have a Wairua Monday group that is currently surveying students to see what options are preferred from an extensive list including yoga, mindfulness colouring, and dancing. Last week, the EPro8 group did a fantastic job at constructing a moveable, battery powered vehicle with its own lights. Ka pai tō mahi team!
All the best to our Zone Cross Country runners who are representing our kura at Nga Puna Wai next week. Ka pai tō mahi!
Noho ora mai nā (Stay well / take care of yourself),
Tracey
