A Message from Tracey - Week 7

Tracey Young —

Kia ora, Hello, Talofa, Mālō e lelei, Bula, Hola, Fakaalofa atu, As Salam Alaykom, こんにちは, Hallo, Hoy, હ લ ો, Hē leu, Mauri, न म त, Ola , Chum reap suor, Kumusta, Nihao, Xin chào.

Kia ora e te whānau,

Not long to go now until the end of Term 4, 2022!  Planning is currently underway for 2023 so please make sure you check the article in this newsletter regarding school dates.

At the end of this term, we say bon voyage to Terenz Gumaga who is heading overseas to teach in England for 2023.  We look forward to Terenz rejoining the teaching team in 2024.

We also wish Vera Martinez and her partner all the very best for their wedding on Friday 9 December.  Congratulations to you both and enjoy your special day.

Swimming Lessons

The Senior School (Years 5-8) had their final swimming lessons for 2022 this week.  It has been great to observe students' water confidence and technique improve with having lessons each term. Next week, our junior students in Rito and Waenga Hub have their lessons.  These lessons are paid for by a grant that we received at this year.  A huge thank you to Jen and the team at Wharenui Pool for their continued support this year.

Linc-Ed Hero - General Comments

End of Term general comments from teachers will be released on Friday 9th December after 3 pm.  Please make sure you have your notifications turned on so you received an alert when these are posted.  It is positive to see so many parents commenting on their student/s posts!

Celebrations of Learning

On Thursday the 8th December (Week 8) we will be holding the Senior School Celebration of Learning (Year 5-8)  at 1.45pm.  This will be held outside if weather permits and in which case everyone is invited to attend.  If the weather isn't playing its part, we will have to move into the hall and parents of award winners will be invited to join us.  More details to follow soon.

On Monday 12th December (Week 9), the Junior Celebration of Learning (NE - Year 4) will take place at 2 pm outside the Nest area.

Enrolments 2023

You may be aware that our 2022 school roll has been growing and it is important that we are prepared for this growth with the correct number of classroom spaces available.

Ways you can help:

  • If you have a preschooler that is turning five later this year or anytime in 2023 phone Helen or Kirstin for an enrolment pack
  • Notify the school office if your son or daughter will not be returning to Wharenui in 2023 (current Year 8’s excluded)

Noho ora mai nā (Stay well / take care of yourself),

Tracey
