Kowhai Hub visit the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra

Last Friday, the 9th of September the Kowhai Hub went to a concert performed by the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and hosted by Suzy Cato. Suzy told us the story behind each piece of music. This included Rossini’s William Tell Overture, Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite, Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro Overture, and popular music from Frozen and Pirates of the Caribbean.

It was great to experience how music is used to tell stories, share feelings and bring back memories. Here are some of the quotes from the day.

It was fun to have a play at Margaret Mahy afterwards!

“It was Awesome!” - Axel

“The conductor was amazing”- Rebecca

“I enjoyed hearing music from the movies of Frozen and Pirates of the Caribbean.”- Maher

“As the music got faster and faster it gave me energy”- Fatima

“When the music was played softly I felt calm”- Mikaiah

“I loved the big slide at Margaret Mahy” - Oliver

“I liked the swings” - Rahzel

“I liked the spiral slide” - Izhaan
