Visitors from Highfields School in Sydney Australia

Last week, we were very fortunate to have four staff members from Highfields School in Sydney come to visit and see what we have been doing with our deep learning.  The teachers and students from Highfields School have been work collaboratively with our teachers and students.  Rātā have been sharing their knowledge of New Zealand native plants with the students from Highfields and Totara and Matai shared their menu designs and gardens that they have started from their visit from Double Tree Hotel.  The learning has been reciprocal and our students have discovered about types of bush tucker and Australian native flowers.  We look forward to continuing to strengthen the partnerships between the two schools of the remaining two terms and beyond!

Building Construction

As you would have noticed, the fencing has gone up in preparation for our roll growth classrooms.  It is important that students and families stay away from this area as it is a construction zone and the team from Hann Construction are hoping to have the classrooms ready for use early next year.  The team will be accessing the site each day from the far end of the carpark and their site office will be located on the court area closest to the pool.

Preparation for 2024

Later in the term we will looking at our staffing for 2024. It is important that we are prepared for growth in certain year levels with the correct number of classroom spaces available.

Ways you can help:

  • If you have a preschooler that is turning five later this year or anytime in 2024 phone Helen or Kirstin for an enrolment pack
  • Notify the school office if your son or daughter will not be returning to Wharenui in 2024 (current Year 8’s excluded)

Noho ora mai nā (Stay well / take care of yourself),

Tracey
