A Message from Tracey - Week 4

Tracey Young —

Kia ora, Hello, Talofa, Mālō e lelei, Bula, Hola, Fakaalofa atu, As Salam Alaykom, こんにちは, Hallo, Hoy, હ લ ો, Hē leu, Mauri, न म त, Ola , Chum reap suor, Kumusta, Nihao, Xin chào.

Kia ora e te whānau,

Our thoughts and aroha as a school are with the people of North Island particularly in the areas of Auckland, Gisborne and the Hawkes Bay that have been devastated by the floods from Cyclone Gabrielle. The Learning Partnerships team are currently preparing a fundraiser on 17 March to show our support.

It is fantastic to walk around the classes and see how engaged the students are with their learning.  We are introducing our new values to the school on a termly basis and our focus for Term 1 is Whānaungatanga.  The photo above shows a group of our senior students looking at symbols within our environment that reflect this value with Wiremu Gray as part of the values design process.  We hope many of you can make it along on Wednesday to our picnic from 4.30 - 6.30 pm.

We have two Kapa Haka groups that have started this term on Wednesday morning and these are being led by Matau Anton McLean. The Senior Kapa Haka roopu (Years 5-8) and our Filipino Dance group will be performing at the Riccarton High Cultural Fest on Friday 10 March.  We hope many of you can come along and show your support for all the awesome mahi that has taken place in such a short time frame.

You may be aware that our school roll has been growing and it is important that we are prepared for this growth with the correct number of classroom spaces available.  If you have a preschooler that is turning five later this year or know of any new families that are moving into the area encourage them to phone Helen or Kirstin for an enrolment pack.

Noho ora mai nā (Stay well / take care of yourself),

Tracey
