Duffy Role Model Assembly
It was great to have Carla Ta'akimoeaka from Urban Kurl come and talk to the students about her passion for reading growing up and the innovation and creativity she shows in her career.
Carla's flair for design and business lead to the creation of Urban Kurl Studio specifically in response to the lack of diversity in services offered in hair salons, lack of education offered to the NZ Hairdressing Industry around natural textures, and the complete disregard for people of all ethnicities and hair types who just want to go to a salon and feel invited, welcomed, and enjoy a pampered experience. Carla is driven by her unwavering passion for people crafting an environment where self-expression flourishes. Urban Kurl Studio stands as a hub of innovation and community impact under her guidance as founder and director. Growing up in West Auckland, her favourite books as a child were the Goosebumps series. Reading was her escape from the world and she loved reading books written from a child's perspective.
