Whītau School Sports Update
Tamai Capture the Flag Tournaments
Last week we had 30 tamariki from Years 3-4 participate in the Tamai Kahui Ako Year 3/4 Capture the Flag Tournament on Thursday 14 March and 27 tamariki from Years 5-6 participate in Tamai Kahui Ako Year 5/6 Capture the Flag Tournament.
This event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Sports Canterbury and Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa, with Kelly Sports' Steve Potter at the helm, ensuring the day ran smoothly and was enjoyable for all involved.
Capture the Flag, a game that tests both physical agility and strategic thinking, was the chosen activity for the tournament. This game requires players to dash across the field, evading opponents while devising plans to seize the enemy flag and return it safely to their territory. The balance of physical exertion and tactical planning made for an engaging and educational experience for all participants.
The tournaments saw two teams each from Te Huarahi Linwood Avenue School, Whītau School, Bromley, School and Te Waka Unua School compete with zeal and determination.
In both the Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 Tournaments Te Waka Una placed first and Bromley second. Our Whītau teams placed 5th and 6th in both tournaments. The teams all showed our school values and great sports values. It was great to see our whānau down at Linwood Park supporting the teams.
