News from the Kōrari Hāpori

Darrin Mitchell —

Each Hāpori takes a turn at sharing news from their team.

Term 3 has been a term where the fruition of practices has reaped rewards for our ākonga.

Spelling Bee

Last Monday we held our Kōrari Spelling Bee and found our best spellers across 8 different levels. The competition was a culmination of 8 weeks of learning their list words and then being selected by their class teacher to participate in our finals. Congratulations to Olivia, Maddison, Jayden, Liam, Seini, Sammy, Ryan, Amelia, Tāne for winning their respective levels.

Strum Strike Blow

Students who had been receiving Ukulele and Recorder lessons over the year had the opportunity to perform at Wolfbrook Arena along with students from schools throughout Christchurch. Congratulations to: Charlotte, Chelsea, Kaiden, Lily, Chinedu, Clay, Manaia, Aroha, Te Amo, Giovanni, Nariaya, Amelia, Sammy, Seini, April and Jayde.

Ki o Rahi

Our Ki o Rahi students have been practising for two terms. Last Thursday we travelled to Wainoni Park for a full day tournament. The tournament was facilitated by Aranui Community Trust and referees were senior students from Haeata Community Campus.

We fielded two teams who played against a variety of schools from all over Ōtautahi. Both teams played eight games back to back. We returned to school with lots of sore bodies, happy hearts and tired faces but worth it all after as the children had the best time.

Team Kaiawa - Richard (Captain), Seth, Hezekiah, Malachi, Ataahua, Nevaeh, Katie, Anas, John, Jayden, Sadore

Team Ikara - Ethan (Captain), Hazel, Lucas, Avannah, Kyrel, Tobias, Weihana, Tāne, Samuel, Amazing

Well done to our Players of the Day - Avannah Toluono-Nicholson for manakiitanga displayed and Nevaeh Tataurangi for her impressive tactical skills.
