News from the Kākano Team

Each team takes a turn at sharing news from their team.

Kia ora Whānau

It was great to see tamariki across Whītau School returning last Wednesday for another great year of learning. They looked happy to be catching up again with their friends and peers after the holidays.

Our New Entrant students in Room 3’s learning so far has been based around establishing routines, learning what being a Whītau School learner looks like and very importantly, building positive relationships with each other. We will continue focusing on all three to ensure all children feel positive and develop a sense of belonging at school. They are all doing well with knowing what to do when they arrive in the morning, e.g. shoes off, unpack their bag and then complete the morning messages displayed on the classroom screen.

Throughout the Kēhakai and Kākano Team a Superhero Lunch Certificate is given to a child who has made a super effort with eating their school lunch. Their name is then put into a draw and drawn out at our Hui on Fridays from 2.30 - 3.00pm. The children who get selected from the draw will visit Miss Collins in her office for a special prize. Thank you Miss Collins for this, we love the Superhero Lunch Certificates.

It was great to catch up again at your child’s Learning Conference last week. It was a good opportunity for you to share your thoughts and to talk through your hopes and goals for your child’s learning throughout 2023.

Reminders:

Your child needs to:

  • Return their homework book and reading book to school each day in their reading folder
  • Have a filled water bottle each day
  • A sandwich for their 10.00am brain break.

Have a great week. Ngā mihi nui
