Cross Country

WPS —

On Friday the 12th May, some students from Years 3-6 braved the cold and took part in the Competitive School Cross Country at Te Kahu Park. With the sun finally coming out, the Year 3 students set off to complete their 600 metre race. The Year 4-6 students then raced, completing three laps of the park. It was wonderful to see everyone step out of their comfort zone, trying something new and challenging themselves to do their best, some even qualifying to compete in the Cross Country Zones.
Following this on Thursday 18th May, a group of runners attended the West Zones Cross Country Championships at Ngā Puna Wai. Not only did our runners have to compete against the other students from our zone, they also had to battle the elements running in cold weather and dodging puddles the width of the track. We were really impressed by those who ran and achieved a variety of placings with two of our competitors, Isaac and Sophia, placing 1st in the Year 6 Boys and 2nd in the Year 5 Girls respectively.
