Gerhard Potgieter —

Kia ora whānau! We hope that you are doing well and that the term is going smoothly for you and your whānau.

Thank you very much for your support yesterday by picking your kids up at 12.30. It allowed the staff to attend a very important meeting and discuss the progress of negotiations that are in place at the moment. We apologise for any inconvenience.

It has been a busy but great last couple of weeks. Thank you to all those parents who were able to be at the school fun run. It is great to see how enthusiastic all our kids take part in these events. It is so nice that we can have events where the community meets and be part of it.

We have also started winter sports in the last fortnight. Thank you to those parents who have been able to support us with this. Sport is such a great thing for kids to be part of. Check out the separate articles on the cross country and winter sports for more updates and results.

Next week we welcome back our Principal, Heather Walkinshaw. Heather has been away on sabbatical in Term 1 and has been on sick leave for the first part of this term. We are very grateful for Heather's return and she is looking forward to being back at school.

Some important up and coming things to be aware of for the rest of the term include:

- Year 6 cycle safety is happening next week

- Learning space events - each learning space will be sending out a notice to let you know when they would like to invite their parents to join them. For example, during inquiry or maths time. There is no obligation to take part in this but we wanted to provide our whānau with this opportunity to come into the learning space and be part of something that the kids are doing. The learning spaces will be in touch with further details.

- Mid year reports are going live through Hero in the last week of the term. Please see the additional articles explaining how our school reports work.

- Cultural assembly/day is happening on the last Thursday of the term. We will provide you with more information about this day. This has traditionally been an amazing day celebrating the range of diverse cultures represented in our school.

We hope that everyone enjoys the long weekend this weekend (King's Birthday). School will be closed on Monday (5th June) due to it being a public holiday.

Nāku iti noa, nā
