Huritini Student Council

Road Safety issues being tackled by students!

Our school is involved in the Huritini Student Council along with five other local primary schools from the Halswell/Wigram area. Dani, Honor and Kieran are the Wigram Primary School representatives.

Their goal is to bring student voice to the wider community in Christchurch. Currently the students have had an increased interest in road safety and dangers around people not following the road rules when dropping off and picking up their children.

They have been busy bees, working behind the scenes with the Christchurch City Council, the Police and a videographer. The students aim to make a video for the wider Christchurch community for drivers to consider everyone's safety when dropping off or collecting their children from school.

Mrs Walkinshaw says this is great and highlights this is not just a Wigram Primary School parent problem.
