Kia ora e te whānau

The busy Term 4 is right into gear.  Athletic Sports are all done and dusted with the inschool athletics, and now have about 26 Year 4-6 students off to our Zone Athletics competition next week.  We wish them all the best.

Our Junior classes had a great day for their sports.  So wonderful to see so many family members out supporting them.  I think there were a lot of tired people last night (teachers included).  Well done everyone.

The Kereru Camp was a huge success and we appreciate the volunteer parents who supported the students and staff over the 3 days.  They were so lucky with the weather.  We hope Ruru enjoy their camp next week.

Hats

Reminder that hats are to be worn in Term 4.  Please make sure the hats are named so if they get misplaced they can be returned to the right owner.  Has are available for purchase from the school office - $18.

2024

Unfortunately I am unable to give you the teacher placements for 2024 as hoped at this stage.  We are still finalising this.

We are welcoming two new staff to the school next year - Estelle Austin will be a Team Leader in the Year 2/3 area.  She is currently a Team Lead at West Rolleston School and brings experience in working in Junior classes and structured literacy.  Sharon Loper will also join our Year 2/3 team.  Sharon is currently at Oaklands School and brings a wealth of experience and support in Maori language, music, ESOL and teaching in the junior school.  We are very excited to have them as part of our team.

In 2024 we welcome our Learning Support Co-ordinator to a new role at Wigram Primary.  Jacqui Radford will work 50% as a Learning Support Co-ordinator, and 50% as a Special Needs support in the school.  We are very excited to have Jacqui to add support across the school.

Our currrent Beginning Teachers will also be returning in 2024.  Welcome Janine Wood, Eden Ronald, Shyla Cooper and Eve Hanrahan to permanent positions, and Lauren Pratley and Ellie Cruz to 2024 positions.

Our structure will be

Pukeko (Year 1) - Team Lead Michelle Gordon and 4 teachers (for the beginning of 2024)

Kotuku (Year 2/3) - Team Lead Marc Gibson and 3 teachers

Toroa (Year 2/3) - Team Lead Estelle Austin and 2 teachers

Kereru/Ruru (Year 4, 5, 6) - Team Lead Brittany Ludemann and 5 teachers

Thank you to those parents who have given us an update on their schooling plans for 2024 as this helps us to use accurate numbers for. allocating students to learning teams and teachers.  Once the teams have been finalised I will send this out as a Hero post.

Parents have until 16 November to let us know of any preferences they have around the placement of their child in 2024.

Chromebook Information Evening for 2024 Year 4-6 Parents

Tuesday 7 November 6-7pm in the Kereru learning space

This chromebook evening is mainly levelled at families who will have their child in Year 4 2024, and who will be new to chromebooks, it will also cover the lastest purchase option through our Uru Manuka Trust.  The Trust has brought together a bundle price that covers - the device, a bag, 3 years insurance and the set up on the school network.  Our school technician also supports these chromebooks at school and manages the insurance aspects of the bundle.
