Wigram Primary Parent & Teachers Association (PTA) fundraising and donations update for 2020 & 2021!

2020 was a busy year for the Wigram Primary School PTA team, despite all the Covid disruptions!

Here is a breakdown of the money we raised at specific fundraisers and events during 2020:

· Second hand uniform sale $515

· Lunch days (Hell Pizza x2, Subway, Sushi) $748

· Two school discos $1,801

· Pasta Vera fundraiser $260 · Plant sale $120

· Election day sausage sizzle & baked goodies sale $552

· Green Melon family photos fundraiser $360

· End of year school fun lunch - $532

With your help and support with these fundraising events and efforts during 2020 (along with rollover funds from 2019), last year the PTA was able to make a donation of $5,000 towards the fantastic new Senior Playground!

So far for 2021 we have already raised a further $1,700! This years’ second-hand uniform sale held in January brought in $435, the Entertainment Book fundraiser (from 2020) another $180, and our fantastic disco last term raised a whopping $1,085!

After discussions with the school regarding the disbursement of funds, we are excited to announce that the five learning spaces are now awaiting the arrival of a brand-new art drying rack each. This will enable students' artwork to safely dry whilst class storage space remains optimised!

The PTA have also allocated $1,500 to our wonderful school caretaker Mr Rob, which will be put towards either the garden/grounds maintenance or an upgraded ride on lawnmower.

At the end of last term the PTA resolved to disburse a further $1,200 to school. As such, another $300 has been allocated to each Learning Space for teachers to buy whatever extra/new resources they require for the students and classrooms – items such as new puzzles, toys and costumes for the new entrant students in Pukeko, and a paper cutting machine for the senior students learning spaces. We look forward to sharing with you what each space has purchased!

We really appreciate our school community's continued efforts in supporting the PTA. We work hard to raise money for the school and to provide activities (such as the disco) that bring school families together. Whether you donated uniforms to our second hand sale, helped out at a PTA event, attended a disco, bought a fun lunch for your child, or had your family photos taken at our previous Green Melon fundraiser, please know that you are supporting our efforts and that support is very much appreciated!

The PTA are always looking for extra helpers to ensure we can continue to achieve excellent results like we saw in 2020. If you are interested in helping us out please do attend one of our meetings. All meeting dates will be published in the school newsletters going forward. All welcome! Have a wonderful Term 2 everyone.
