LATEST NEWS AND VIEWS : 10 November 2022

Welcome to our Newsletter #17 for 2022

Already our final term of the year is just racing by.

Reminder that tomorrow Friday 11 November is Canterbury Anniversary Day and therefore is a public holiday - so no school.

Tuesday 15 November we will be holding a Parent meeting for all parents/caregivers who will be having students in year 4, 5 or 6 next year.  This is a parent/caregiver meeting (no children please).  The intention is to talk about the concept and understanding of two year 4, 5, 6 classes in 2023.  This evening will not be live streamed, but the slides used will be shared with families following the meeting.  This will include a frequently asked questing section.

A Year 4,5,6 class is not new to Wigram Primary and all of our classes are split according to the numbers of students we have at each year level.  All of the decisions we make are made with the best interests of the students we have at the time.

We hope that interested parents are able to come along, or view the shared slides following the meeting. Questions are welcomed.

2023 Planning

At the last Board of Trustees Meeting the Board ratified the appointment of the following teachers for 2023.

We will welcome:

Ms Eve Hanrahan, Mrs Lauren Pratley & Ms Regan Baxter - new to our school.

We welcome back Ms Eden Ronald, Ms Shyla Cooper, Mrs Janine Wood, with Mr Brian Walkinshaw taking on a Release Teacher role.

Mrs Jane Baugh will join us full time for Term 1, then continue as a Release Teacher for the remainder of the year.

We welcome back Mrs Mariska Putter as a permanent teacher in the school, and Miss Lucy Thomason returns from maternity leave to teach 4 days each week.

This week we received the news that Mrs Aimee Wales has accepted a Team Leader role at Clearview School.  We wish Aimee all the best for her move.

Miss Harriet Burke is travelling overseas next year and Miss Serena White has accepted a position at Springston School.

I have been successful in gaining a one term sabbatical from the Ministry of Education.  This will mean I will not be part of the school team in Term 1 2023.  Mr Gerhard Potgieter will be Acting Principal during this time, and Mrs Michelle Gordon will take on the Acting DP role.

Our next newsletter will outline the teaching teams for 2023 and the learning spaces they will 'live' in.  At this point we will open up for parents to let us know if they have any specific placement thoughts for their child.  We will set some guidelines around this in the next newsletter.

Kind regards
