Student Council Scooters

This year the Student Council have done lots of activities and other things for Wigram Primary. We did rock painting to spread our school’s HEART values and currently we are working on designing the school library. Our biggest achievement this year was planning and organising a presentation for the board of trustees to help us pay for 13 scooters and 3 skateboards which will be available for all children to use on our new scooter track, early next year!

Once the BOT approved our spending and allocated us the funds for 13 scooters and 3 skateboards, we were able to hit the ground running. Next we researched which scooters we thought had good features and would be age appropriate.

Finally we wrote a persuasive letter to the commercial manager at Torpedo 7 and the Farmers store manager in Riccarton. They generously gave us a store discount so we were able to purchase these at a good price. We purchased;

  • 5 Invert dirt scooters as these will be great for doing tricks and have better balance with the thicker wheels.

  • 5 Invert stunt scooters which have a good reputation for building up speed.

  • 3 three wheeled scooters with anti tipping wheels for our younger students to use.

  • 3 2023 street vibe skateboards which are great for beginner skaters.

  • Shout out to Shanaya and Somya Gupta for also purchasing and donating 3 scooters to the school. We are very grateful for this.

Not all of the scooters have arrived yet, as they are being shipped from all over the country. However, we are excited to build these with Mr Rob and they will be available for the whole school to use early in term 1 next year.

Thank you to the student council for their hard work and organisation skills! We can’t wait to use the scooters next year!
