Ukulele Jam

This year we are lucky to have the Amazing Mr Leung, with his fabulous music and guitar skills, to teach a keen bunch of Wigram children how to play the Ukulele (supported by Ms Lunan).

Wigram has joined the NZ Ukulele trust which supports NZ schools. It has a cool website, lots of songs and recordings and helps the school to connect up to learn, play, perform songs and enjoy ukuleles together. There is a website you can join to find out more and check out some of the songs. https://nzukulele.org.nz/

This year we met on Thursday lunchtimes, to learn some basic chords, strum patterns and play along to some great tunes- some written by Kiwi kids.

Last week, we invited two other school groups to come and have a ‘Ukulele Jam’ at our School. We played games, played together and tried a few new songs.

Next year we hope to grow in numbers and skill and there are opportunities to join a bigger Kiwilele orchestra.

Here are some pictures from our ‘jam.’ I wonder if Santa Claus may deliver a few Ukuleles this year…
