Poetry - Imagery Poems

The aim of writing in Ruru this week has been to write poems that paint a picture in the mind of the reader. We are really impressed by what these poets have written. Enjoy.

At the Beach

By Imri

The glistening salty water crashes on the bay.

While the icky seaweed brushes the shore.

The people play in the waves.

They laugh and chat about school and friends while playing in the waves

People bodyboard and shoot across the water

While others make small sand castle and some sun bathe

The hot yellow sand burns my feet

Toddlers are trying to jump the small waves

Teenagers surf down the waves like bullets.

Here comes the stars in the clear evening sky indicating its time to say goodbye to the surf

While humans leave the bay to climb into their cars and drive away.

All alone the surf is quiet now that everybody has gone home.

Imagery

By Austin F

The king shouting shouting at slaves makes me jump

Towering dragons in front of me, roaring as they spit out fire

The dragons horns scratch me as it flies past me.

Smoke fills the room as I breath in its fumes.

I pile my plate with food from the Royal Feast.

It tastes delicious.
