Diwali

Festival of Lights

“The significance of Deepavali (Diwali) is the removal of darkness and filling it with good and positivity”. Deepavali is known as the “Festival of lights”, But why? It is the day when Lord Rama returned to his kingdom after many years of exile. In the happiness of his return, the people of Ayodhya lit the lamps everywhere. That day became Diwali.

Last week, Wigram Primary School celebrated Diwali by holding a Diwali workshop that included Dance, ColouringRangoli--which acts as a mindful colouring, Henna- where the little kids could draw henna patterns. As for the older kids, they got REAL henna! And Rangoli- which uses colorful rice.

This was on Monday and Tuesday lunchtime, in Ruru and in the shared create space between Ruru and Kereru. A group of girls from Ruru and Kereru held these workshops. The people who helped are: Dani, Ana, Aliyah, Chloe, Shreya, and Shanaya.
