Teaching Team Line Ups for 2023

Our 2023 Learning Space structure has been advertised in our Newsletter previously.

We had planned to announce where teachers are going to be teaching for 2023, however we are still going through an appointment process to replace Aimee Wales as Team Leader, and this appointment may affect the placement of teachers. Please bear with us we go through the process and we will let you know the teacher placements in due course.

In the meantime if you have a special request to make around the placement of your child for 2023 it must be made before 2 Dec. We cannot accommodate requests made after this date.

We only accept parent requests for the following reason:

  • if you wish your child to be separated from another child for social reasons (e.g. my child is becoming overly dependent on Jimmy, please place them in separate classes.)

Please note I will not be accepting requests:

  • for your child to be placed WITH another child, as that then dictates the other child's placement and only that child's parent has that right
  • based on your child's perception of a teacher (e.g. my child wants to be in this teacher's class because she's nice or she does lots of sport etc.). All of our teachers are professional practitioners
  • for "the male teacher"
  • for any particular class because you perceive that there will be "harder" or "easier" work on offer. None of our classes are streamed, each learner is catered to from their own skills and abilities.
  • I have asked my child and they want ???? as their teacher.

Please also be aware:

  • We always make sure that your child has at least one friend with them in their new class
  • We also juggle gender counts, ability levels, social groupings, special needs, siblings/cousins and teacher-fit to ensure a good mix in each class.
  • A request may not always be able to be met.

Class placements are a long and laborious task for us. In many ways, it is a labour of love. We spend hours pouring over our class lists and individually placing each child in the right place. Every class list has several pairs of eyes on it - the child's current teacher, their new teacher, their team leaders, the SENCo and our Senior Leadership Team all have input. We ask you to trust us that we do have your child's best interests at heart.

All Year 1 students, and New Entrants, will be in the Pukeko/Matuku block as one group, and with Mrs Michelle Gordon as Team Leader. The New Entrant nest will be incorporated as part of this team and led by Miss Alicia Bell.

Year 2 & 3 will have two mixed classes and they will have Toroa or Kotuku as their Learning Space. Mr Marc Gibson will lead one team, and we have a pending appointment of a new Team Leader.

Year 4, 5 & 6 will be equally spread over two Learning Spaces. Kereru will be led by Ms Trish Bunting, and Ruru by Mrs Ellie Galletly.

Conversations can be had with either the current classroom teacher, the team leader, Gerhard (Deputy Principal) or Heather (Principal).
