Kia ora e te whānau

It was great to welcome so many new students and their families with our Mihi Whakatau last week.  We hope you all enjoy your learning days with us here at Wigram Primary.

Board of Trustees Election

Please read the article in this Newsletter.  Nomination papers have been sent out and there are additional forms available from the Office.

Nominations close next Wednesday 28 Feb at 12 noon, and so far we have no nominations.  Please give this some serious thought.

School Stationery

Formal class programmes are beginning and it is essential your child has to tools to feel comfortable to access their learning.  All children do not want to look different to others in the class or group.  If getting the stationery is a problem for you please talk to the Office staff, or classroom teacher so we can support you.

Learning at Home (Homework)

Over the next couple of days the Team Leaders will be sending home information about the learning you can support your child with at home.  If you are concerned about any aspect of your childs learning, the classroom teacher is the key person to talk to.  The support you give your child at home is really important but should not be a burden.  Talk to the teacher if you find this challenging.

Duffy Theatre and Duffy Books

We are excited to be hosting the yearly Duffy Theatre tomorrow afternoon.  Their theatre always has a focus on books and reading.  As a Duffy School we are privileged to have lots of opportunities to celebrate books.  This term your child will have the opportunity to choose 2 books of their own to keep as part of the programme.  Books will be presented towards to end of the term when we celebrate with a Duffy Assembly, and host a Role Model to talk to the children.

Each fortnight 'caught being good' books are given out to each learning space and presented in Assembly.  You will see a Duffy sticker in the front of the book if your child receives one.  Additionally all children who have a Kahu card (celebrating our school values) in the card draw, and it gets pulled out by the House Leaders, will have to opportunity to choose their own Duffy Book to bring home.

Please complete:

Over the next few days you will be receiving two permission forms to complete and return to school.  One is the 2024 consent for Education Outside the Classroom, and the other is what permissions you give us to use your childs name (christian name only), school work or photo on a variety of platforms.

No child is able to attend offsite trips without parent permission.  The 2024 consent form allows us to not have to seek individual permission for every single trip that is taken.  No trip is taken without parents being informed of the trip.  Due to the Government Grant given to our school we do not seek any money for school trips and activities.

Hope to see you at the picnic tonight.  Great weather for it.
