Acting Principal's Kōrero

Kia ora Wigram whānau.

The term is racing past. We have had a busy last two weeks with many things going on around the school, such as:

- swimming

- marae trip

- walk or wheel

- top team

We are grateful that we are able to provide different opportunities for our kids to be involved in.

Staff are learners too:

Last week we had our Numicon facilitator, Jo Loveridge, come and work with our staff for three days. She mentioned how impressed she was with the level of engagement the kids had across the school. It is always very encouraging to hear feedback such as that from a person that works in many schools across the country. She also commented on the positive attitudes and willingness of our staff and their willingness to embrace new things. Ka pai to mahi kaimahi and tamariki!

Teacher Strike:

Thank you for your support and understanding last Thursday with the nationwide teacher strike. I have spoken to a few parents who have expressed their support to teachers. It is our hope that there will be a positive outcome for all.

PTA:

I also want to thank and acknowledge the parents that came to the PTA meeting on Tuesday. So watch this space... We are hoping to re-start the PTA group and would welcome anyone who is interested. If you are interested in joining or finding out more, please email Helena Dinnisen (BOT member - hdinnissen.bot@wigramprimary.school.nz or myself)

BOT:

The board shared a newsletter to the community on the 6th of March via Hero. The board is looking to invite another member onto the Board of trustees, to be part of our finance committee. A financial or accounting background would be required. This is a really vital role in supporting the board to make wise and informed decisions with the current and future school funds. Please get in touch with Alexis (BOT Chair) if you are interested or would like to know more - astocks.bot@wigramprimary.school.nz

Other information:

In this newsletter, you will find a range of articles that includes reminding you about the community evening that we will have on Tuesday from 4.30-6.30. This will be run by Te Aha Ora who will be working with our kids on Monday and Tuesday.

Also, you will see that we have an article showcasing the different leadership groups we have around the school. It is great to give kids a range of leadership opportunities.

Some of our students also made a clip of lunch activities to give you a little snapshot of what is happening at lunch times.

Noho ora mai - All the best.
