Learning Sites and Blogs

Wigram Primary follows Manaiakalani’s pedagogy. This pedagogy aims to make learning visible and ubiquitous and to create connected and empowered learners. Underpinning this is Learn, Create, Share.

With LEARN, students are introduced to new knowledge. This can be from the teacher, video, text or play!

All learning spaces have their own Learning Site. This is where students can access their learning. Teachers use the site to upload and publish all learning content so students are able to access this anywhere and at any time. Junior classes have a Student Navigation shortcut on class iPads and senior classes have the learning site bookmarked for easy access. Parents are also able to see what the child is currently learning.

CREATE involves combining prior knowledge to this new concept/knowledge to create something new.

Senior students are taught the skills needed to use different digital tools and their digital creations are referred to as DLOs - digital learning objects.

SHARE is an opportunity for students to share their creations and reflect on what they did well and what to work on next time.

Again, all learning spaces have their own blogs. This is just one platform where learning is shared. Parents are able to see teaching and learning in action and can comment on what they see. Senior students have individual blogs and there is an expectation that they blog their learning at least once a week. All learning spaces and individual blogs will be completely up and running by Term 2.
