Huritini Student Council Update!

Huritini Student Council

Hi there everyone,

Here is our update! To begin with we looked at the bumper stickers and wrote a paragraph about how this is going. Our next step is going to be handing out 1 bag of sweets and a sticker for the back of your car when we see you driving safely for our safety. These are sponsored by the City Council. Thank you to everyone who has already stuck one of these stickers to your car window.

Then we looked at the Christchurch City Council 10 year plan and placed tokens that were worth $5 on areas we thought were important. We had a total of $100 to spend. We voted on how much money we wanted to spend on a variety of things to keep our city a better place. We thought the Council should focus on storm water drainage, waste and recycling, climate change and updating our community spaces.

Lastly we began brainstorming ideas for a Halswell youth event.

We thought about doing some sporting and water events. One of ideas was going around to parks and rivers and having a competition to see who can pick up the most rubbish and get something that we will probably figure out at the next meeting if we decide to do that.

Thanks for listening,

By Dani, Honor and Kieran.
