LATEST NEWS AND VIEWS : 25 November

Where has this term disappeared to?!!!! Term 4 is always full on, and just when we think it can't get any busier, it does. It happens every year, so we should not be surprised.

School End of Year Reporting & Parent Conference option

Check out the article about the reporting and optional conference session.

Pick up and Drop offs

We have had contact from a few parents concerned at the lack of mask wearing and social distancing when dropping off and picking up.  Please adhere to these protocols as we are aware that some people work, or live with, autoimmune compromised people and we want to keep everyone safe.

Guidelines - Wear a mask and keep a 2m distance from others.

Kittyhawk Ave School Entrance Closure

We have been notified by Southbase that the area between the existing school building and the Kittyhawk school entrance will need to be closed for the rest of the year from Friday 26 November.  They require the space to redo some asphalt, lines painting and to connect up the heating condensers.  This will mean from 29 November all children will enter the school grounds from one of the Curtis Street entrances.

We will open up the gate at the Ruru/Vege garden end of the school for the morning drop off time (8:30am - 8:55am) to add another entry point.  There will be a teacher or two there and each child coming in will need to hand sanitise.

We recommend that students from Pukeko and Toroa use the Hall entrance as there will be Learningspace teachers there to support the children in to school.

 Covid19 Trafficlight System

With this just being announced this week for it to take effect later next week, we still do not have clarity around what this will mean for us at Wigram Primary.  I will send a message home, via email, once we have some clarity.             Breaking News - The Ministry of Education has stated that there will be no change to current practices in schools due to the Traffic light system, until the beginning of 2022.

Leavers Dinner

While we are unable to offer the full experience to our Leaving Students this year, there will still be a Dinner and Prizegiving. - Save the date: Thursday 9 December 5:30pm (dinner), prizegiving 6:30pm, at Riccarton Park Raceway.

One restriction we do have is that there will only be one ticket per family to attend the prizegiving section of the evening.  We are limited by the Covid restricted numbers of 100 for the venue.   Photos will be taken and shared with families following the event.
