Kererū's visit Taumutu Marae

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week, all the learners in Kererū got to experience Te Pā o Moki.

As part of our learning this term, Kererū have been learning about our cultures and what makes us special.

To finish this off we thought it would be great to head off to Taumutu Marae out near Southbridge, which is Wigram Primary Schools Marae.

During our time out at Te Pā o Moki we started off by completing a Mihi Whakatau, which is a traditional welcome onto the marae, following this we got to share some kai. We also got to share our own Mihi with everyone. This was lots of fun.

Following on from this we learnt more about the area including names and stories of different parts of the area.

After lunch we got to walk down to the Wetlands by the marae.

It was a fantastic day and we want to thank all the parent helpers, bus drivers and the staff at Taumutu Marae for our new learning.
