Kia ora e te whānau

Camps are over and what a time was had by all.  Many thanks to the 20 or so parent volunteers who supported over the two camps.  Without your help we cannot run such events.  We were very lucky with the weather on both camps and all the outdoor activities were able to be held.

2024

2024 is looming very quickly.  Classlists are being finalised and they will be distributed in the last week of school.  Thankyou to parents who have spoken to teachers or to the Office regarding the placement of their child next year.  Once we publish the classes there will not be any changes.

Strategic Plan Survey was sent out last week.  Thank you to parents and whanau who have completed this.  It will remain open for responses until Wednesday 22 November.  We very much appreciate your voice to assist us with forward planning.

Board of Trustees

At the last Board Meeting the Board accepted the resignation of Tammy Ferguson, and our current Board Chair, Alexis Stocks.  Both resignations are effective at the end of 2023.  Tammy has been a keen member of the Board for 18 months and is leaving as they have moved out of the Wigram area and her children will change schools for 2024.  Alexis has been on our Board for 4 years and the last 20 months as Board Chair.  Alexis juggles many roles in the community and her workload has increased to a point where something needs to drop off.

The Board is aware we will have two further resignations for the end of Term 1 2024, and in preparation for this we will be holding an election early in Term 1 to fill the gaps from April 2024.  We will be seeking 4 Board members in this election.

If you are interested, please talk to one of the teachers, a current Board Member, or to myself to get an understanding of the role.

Packaging Free Lunchbox

Come Term 1 2024 we will be going rubbish free across the school.  This will mean there will be no rubbish bins out and all lunchbox rubbish will go home in the lunchbox.  We will still continue with our worm farm but not all organics can be used in the farm, or compost.

In this time until the end of year, start to think about what this will mean for you and your child.  There are some amazing lunchboxes out there designed to hold food in compartments.  Snack bars do not need to come to school in wrappers - open them up and leave the wrapper at home.  Practice eating all of the yoghurt from the yoghurt pottle - these could otherwise be very messy coming home.  Cut up fruit so it is easier - peel oranges/mandarins etc.  Pop a sandwich in a wrapping that is reusable - a ziplock bag or beeswax wrapper works well for this.

We are looking to be more environmentally friendly and this is our 2024 goal.

Caretaker Mr Rob

Mr Robs hand injury has been an ongoing issue for him.  His hand has still not healed properly and continually gets an infection build up.  He has again been in hospital for a further operation to clean out the infection.  Hopefully this will be the last one and his hand will heal so he can return to work.
